he display of the SWR, with LEDs, is integrated in the 40m QCX package. For this I have the Bruene indicator sized so that the red LED already clearly lit at a SWR of 1: 1.3. Thus I have now QCX integrates the SWR display and zero beat indicator.

s the operating voltage for my QCX-20m I have chosen 12V. The diagram of QRPLabs gives about 3W. Whether I use 15V, and thus about 2W more and a current increase of about 100mA, does not matter in practice. Only an increase in power to about 12W would give an S-level more. My QCX delivers 3.5W. I am satisfied with that. I run the TRCVR on my loop. The right picture shows the impedance at the transmitter end of the antenna system. A SWV of 1.06 to 1 is fine.

he tuning to the remote station should be as accurate as possible. You often hear that Stations are far apart from the frequency of the other. A Zero Beat indicator helps. The circuit LM567 was designed as a sound decoder and does a good job here.

y last project was the QCX by QRP Labs, extended with a encloser by Markus, DL6YYM. An indication of whether the QCX is providing a transmit signal to the antenna or whether a load resistor is connected was thought to be desirable. Moreover, it is a nice visual effect, if a green LED lights up when sending, on the other hand, the red LED warns that something is wrong.

uring the switchover, in the QCX, from receiving to transmitting, a crackling and wumping noise is produced. This can, depending on the set Volume, be very uncomfortable. The forum QRPLabs@groups.io has put me on the right track. It's not enough, just C22 but both capacitors, C21 and C22 must be exchanged. I have used Wima MKP 0.22 µF and the disturbing noises are completely gone, regardless of the volume.
